What is neograft hair transplant?

A graft is a unit term coined to reflect 3-4 hair follicles in one division. Neograft on the other hand refers to a specific method of FUE transplanting technique. FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction is a common method of hair transplant in which hair grafts are harvested and transplanted via miniscule incisions made individually by the surgeon. Neograft hair transplant brings a new approach to this method by eliminating the individually made incisions and replacing the by incisions made by an instrument that is a mechanical punch tool.

how neograft hair transplant works

How does neograft hair transplant work?

Neograft hair transplant is a FUE hair transplant method where an instrument that resembles a mechanical punch is used to harvest and transplant the graft. This wand has suction and is able to remove the follicle with precision and ease. This reduces the trauma inflicted on the scalp and makes the recovery process smooth.

Instead of the surgeon’s individual incisions the mechanical wand is able to make consistent and uniform lacerations. Simply put, neograft hair transplants are automated versions of the FUE hair transplants.

Neograft hair transplant cost in Turkey

How much does neograft hair transplant cost?

This technique requires skills but also operative know-how of the mechanical wand needed to conduct the operation. Due to its mechanical nature it is usually slightly more expensive than a regular FUE hair transplant. The cost of a hair transplant operation rests on the number of grafts, the method of operation and the services clinics provide. Depending on these factors the price can go higher or lower. A regular FUE operation costs anywhere between 2000 USD to 8000 USD depending on the factors listed above. Thus a Neograft hair transplant would approximately cost 3000 to 9000 USD depending on the number of grafts and the services that the hair clinic provides.

Is neograft hair transplant more expensive than other methods?

Neograft hair transplant is slightly more expensive than a regular FUE hair transplant. However cost-wise it is somewhat similar to a DHI or Direct Hair Implantation method hair transplant as they are similar methods, both using tools in the process of transplanting.

neograft Hair Transplant recovery

How long does recovery take after a neograft hair transplant?

The recovery of a neograft hair transplant is simple, in fact most patients revealed that it is much smoother than a regular FUE hair transplant. This is because of the uniform incisions that the mechanical wand makes making the recovery of the scabs formed an easier process. The recovery process is somewhat similar to a regular hair transplant with the added bonus of the non-invasive nature of the method. After the first week the scabs will start healing and the patient can go back to their regular life after the first couple of days post-op. How long after neograft until I can touch my head?

Touching your hair after a transplant operation is risky not only because it risks the viability of the transplant but because it may cause inflammation or irritation. That is why it is advised that you do not touch your hair, particularly your scalp the first few days post-op and be gentle with it for the first weeks following the operation. The first wash happens 24 to 48 hours later than the post-op, which is when you can gently touch your hair, following the instructions of your hair clinic.

How long does neograft hair transplant last?

Hair transplants are permanent solutions unlike other hair treatments. That is they are expected to last a long time, as they are solutions that involve generation of healthy and new hair. A neograft hair transplant is no exception: neograft hair transplant is supposed to last you a lifetime, promoting the generation of new and healthy hair as time goes.

Is neograft hair transplant permanent?

All hair transplants, including neograft hair transplants are supposed to be permanent. Unlike hair treatments that may help the look of hair for a while or as long as the treatment continues, hair transplants are permanent solutions that generate new and healthy hair growth.

FAQs About Neograft Hair Transplant

Neograft hair transplants are an extension of the FUE technique as the hair is still transplanted using it however with the added help of a mechanical tool. This wand-like tool does help make the transplantation process easier and more precise. That is why it can be considered that the neograft hair transplant is better than a regular FUE hair transplant. For more information on how the FUE hair transplant functions, check out our article that delves deep into how a successful hair transplant is achieved via the FUE technique.

DHI or otherwise known as Direct Hair Implantation is a method of hair transplant in which the surgeon directly transplants the harvested hair follicle to the target area with the aid of a pen-like instrument often referred to as the Choi-Pen. The use of instruments may resemble the neograft hair transplant as mechanical wand is also employed in the neograft technique. But that is as far as the similarities go. Not only are the devices different from each other, but in the neograft hair transplant the harvested follicles are made into grafts and then transplanted into the target area. Whereas in the DHI technique the hair follicle that is harvested is immediately reimplanted to the target area individually.

Wearing a protective hat before and after the hair transplant is important due to avoiding unwanted sun damage however the patient must be mindful of the fact that they can NOT wear a hat immediately after and the day following the operation. This is because of the sensitivity of the hair follicles that have been freshly implemented. In similar fashion patients are not expected to sleep directly on the areas where their new hairline is. However following the first day post-op the patient not only can wear a hat but SHOULD wear one.

The instrument used in the neograft procedure is a mechanical wand-like instrument that makes the incisions and transplanting in a uniform method. Unlike the regular FUE method where the incisions made to the scalp are done individually by the surgeon the instrument used in the neograft procedure allows the surgeon to make identical incisions. This allows the scalp to heal faster and almost in an unanimous way.
